Loose/Bunched/Potted Plant Explanation

What is the difference?

Loose Plants

These are sold and individual plants that can be separated and grown on their own. Stem plants are usually recently cut and will unlikely have any root systems yet. Plants with crowns/rosettes will usually have roots, these may brown when in transit but new roots will shoot once settled in the aquarium.

These can be harder to plant initially depending on the type of plant, however using plant specific substrates and tools this will become easier.

Bunched Plants

Usually a combination of a number of Loose plants as previous. These will be bunched together using a foam sponge and a lead weight. Like loose plants, root systems may or may not be present depending on the type of plant.

These are easy to plant as the foam and weight compresses the plants and can hold them in place until they develop root systems.

Potted Plants (Pots removed for shipping)

These cultures are farm grown in plastic pots and rockwool. This allows the plants to soak up the atmospheric C02 while sitting in a shallow nutrient rich solution. We will remove the pot and rockwool for these plants to allow damage free shipping via a box that can fit through your letterbox. These will have varying degree of root systems which gives the plant a significantly greater chance of success in the new aquarium.

These are the easier to plant due to having established base roots ready to be placed into the substrate, or attached to hardscapes if an epiphytes.
